Investigators: Alisha, Sandy, Allie, Jim, Rich, public ticket holders Equipment: Digital voice recorders, Mel Meter, K2 meter, SB7 Spirit Boxes, EMF Tripwire, REM Pod, cat balls, Geophone, EDI Meter History: Billed as "The Largest Hotel in the West" when it opened in April 1855, the Desoto House Hotel serviced visitors to the bustling mining town of Galena. For years the hotel served as a center for social and political activities, even hosting Abraham Lincoln who spoke from it's main balcony. Tragedy struck in 1869 when a boiler exploded in the basement. But the hotel continued on and still welcomes visitors to Galena. Claims: This hotel has multiple claims but perhaps most famously is the claim of a woman in black who has been seen over a number of years walking through the restaurant and disappearing into the wall. After a flood in the restaurant and having to replace dry wall they found an old doorway which had previously been covered. This doorway aligned with the area in the wall where they woman disappeared. |
Personal Experiences
- In Grant's Room both teams had cat balls go off in response to questions as well as seeing the cat balls roll by themselves. Both teams also monitored ambient temperature in the room with an EDI meter and temperature would go down to specific requested temperature.
- In the ballroom both Alisha and Jim heard movement in one of the side rooms as well as heard growling that was no picked up on the recorder. Jim felt vibration in the floor when he was doing the Estes Method.
- In the restaurant the trip wire was extremely active in responding intelligently to questions, specifically questions about soldiers being present. During Estes Method session,

Audio Evidence
During a session in Grant's Room a disembodied voice says "get out."
During a Spiritus session we ask if they know who is staying in this room tonight. "Jim" comes through twice, once through the Spiritus app but one we believe is a disembodied voice. Jim was in fact staying in the room that night.
We are asking for the temp to go down to 66.6 degrees while running the Spiritus app. As.we ask if it can make it go down "learning" comes out of the app.
In the restaurant the group heard what sounded like a chair being pulled across the floor even though they were the only ones down there at the time. Multiple recorders caught the sound.
During a Necrophonic session Jim asks if they would like the app turned off. They get a "yes" in response.
During a Necrophonic session we ask how many spirits are at the hotel and get a series of intelligent responses.
